What is Life Teen?
LIFE TEEN is an international Catholic movement that serves the Church by providing resources and faith experiences that help lead teens closer to Christ. This is accomplished through a vibrant Eucharistic spirituality and by creating widespread opportunities for teens to grow in their faith.

Life Teen's primary ministry is support and training to parishes seeking to implement the LIFE TEEN model of Catholic youth ministry. The LIFE TEEN model is a comprehensive model of youth ministry. Through resources, trainings, and teen events, we seek to equip parishes to reach and form the young Church.

The main components of the LIFE TEEN model in a parish setting are the LIFE TEEN Mass and LIFE Nights. At a weekly LIFE TEEN Mass, teens and their families experience the depths of God’s love through the Word, the active presence of the priest, the faith community, and the Eucharist.

Following the Mass, trained youth ministers and CORE Members lead the teens deeper into their Catholic faith in the LIFE Night experience. Teens grow as a faith community, through experiencing what it means to be young and Catholic in today’s world. Through the four-year curriculum, LIFE TEEN fulfills the catechetical component for high school teens.

LIFE TEEN has an award-winning Catholic website for teens, three year-round camp and retreat centers, training conferences, a knowledgeable and friendly staff, and much more! Currently, more than 1,000 parishes in 20 countries implement the LIFE TEEN model.

How do I get a Life Teen?

Step 1: Youth Minister
Secure a Youth Minister for your program.
Spend time recruiting someone to coordinate LIFE TEEN for your parish. This position is preferably a paid full-time position. Delineate what responsibilities this person will have within the parish. Post this position on the LIFE TEEN web site or with this site.

Step 2: Visit
Visit a parish that implements LIFE TEEN.

Step 3: Share
Present LIFE TEEN to your parish. Involve your pastor, director of religious education, youth liturgist, parents, etc. Note: keep the teens “in the loop” – express your commitment to bringing them a dynamic youth program! Order the video “Clean White Pages” or “Introduction to LIFE TEEN” on DVD. Both of these resources will help you and your audience to catch the vision of LIFE TEEN.

Step 4: Pray
Ask people to pray for you and for all who will be working to start LIFE TEEN at your parish.

Step 5: Order
Order the Training Video Package. Our entire staff is on hand to assist you!

Step 6: Attend
Attend a LIFE TEEN Basic Training Conference. This is highly recommended! We offer two Basic Training Conferences, one in the fall, and one in the summer. Both are held in Phoenix, Arizona. Call our Conference Coordinator or check LIFETEEN.com for information on the complete conference schedule.

Step 7: Sign up
Become part of the LIFE Support System. Our resource package (ICU) arrives three times a year. It includes LIFE Night and Liturgy Planning Guides, training videos and DVDs, supplemental LIFE Night DVDs, retreats for CORE and teens, music, fun stuff, a 1-800 number to reach us, and much more! Once you sign up, you also receive your own password that allows access into our vast online library of LIFE Nights, retreats, and liturgical planning guides.

Step 8: CORE
Recruit a CORE team. Set dates for CORE trainings and a retreat. The CORE team is a group of committed Catholic adults who are willing to walk with the teens on their faith journey. For more information, click on “CORE” at the banner of LIFETEEN.com. Order CORE team handbooks and begin planning your semester!

Step 9: Music
Recruit a Music Minister for the Sunday Youth Liturgy. It is vital to the ministry that a committed music minister is in place. Build the music ministry for Mass, and for LIFE Nights and retreats.

Step 10: Plan
Begin to plan your liturgies, including teen lectors, ministers of hospitality, altar servers, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, etc.

Step 11: Parents
Involve parents in your ministry. Introduce the Parents for LIFE Program. For information on this, contact Pam Zimmerman at the LIFE TEEN Headquarters or go to LIFETEEN.com.

Step 12: Teens
Continue evangelizing the teens in your parish. Build excitement about the program by getting them involved in the planning of the LIFE TEEN Kick-Off.

Step 13: Publicize
Plan for and publicize the first LIFE TEEN Mass and LIFE Night!

Step 14: Kick-Off
After months of praying and planning, kick-off LIFE TEEN at your parish!
